Velimir Ilic
Ilic told members of Kragujevac’s civil defence headquarters at yesterday’s meeting that the financial assistance is being allocated especially for the roof repair of the ‘Zastava’ factory and other industrial and non-industrial facilities, as well as for citizens.
He pointed out that after the city of Kragujevac hands over detailed records on the damage created, the Serbian government will pass a decision on the distribution of additional funds for the damage repair in the city, and added that the Serbian Road Directorate will immediately begin the road infrastructure repair not only in Kragujevac, but in other Serbian cities that were hit by the storm.
Ilic expressed hope that the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management will assist farmers and farming cooperatives in the damage repair, and that the Ministry will supply them with petroleum and chemical substances.
Assessing that there is not enough money in the budget for repairing all the damage, as the storm struck 20 different cities in seven days, the Minister pointed out that the state will do everything necessary to provide assistance, and added that the IMF does not allow large earmarking from the state budget for natural disasters, since the insurance of property is a world-wide practice.
