Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus, who is also head of Serbia’s team for negotiations with the EU, spoke today in Novi Sad at a panel discussion themed “Exit to EU”, and stressed the importance of young people taking part in positive changes in the Serbian society.
Labus said that Serbia must use the knowledge and brains of young people in the right way, adding that it is important that Serbia take a different viewpoint and start looking up to other small countries, that also have no oil or gold, but have invested considerably in science and knowledge.
He announced that the Serbian government Fund for support and financing young talents will give scholarships to the best students, finance student training in EU countries, and award university and high school students for achievements at international and official state competitions.
Head of the Serbian EU Integration Office Tanja Miscevic said that Serbia is striving to join the EU not only because of better living standards in EU countries, but also because the integration process is providing Serbia with guidelines and a model of a normal European state in the 21st century.
Minister of Science and Environmental Protection Aleksandar Popovic pointed out that though Serbia has many advantages, it is necessary that everyone should get organised and try to exploit those advantages in the best way so as to create a perfect living environment in Serbia.
