Belgrade, July 1, 2005- Serbian Minister of Education and Sport Slobodan Vuksanovic opened today the international conference on lifelong learning in the Balkan countries, which aims to explore the historical context and modern trends regarding the subject of adult education. The conference gathered about 120 participants from 7 countries in the region.

The Ministry of Education and Sport is one of the patrons of this three-day conference, which has also been supported by the Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection and by the Belgrade City Hall.
Each participant country of the conference, Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Albania, Romania and Serbia-Montenegro, will have its national representative who will present the historical framework and modern trends in the field of adult education in their countries.
The conference has been organised by the Balkan Association for Pedagogy and Education seated in Thessaloniki, the Faculty of Philosophy's Institute for Pedagogy and Andragogy in Belgrade, Belgrade's Association for Adult Education and the Pedagogy Association of Serbia.
