Serbia fulfils all conditions for negotiations with EU in the energy sector

Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Radomir Naumov said today in Brussels that Serbia has met all conditions related to the energy sector needed for the beginning of negotiations on Serbia-Montenegro's accession to the European Union.

Minister Naumov is on a three-day official visit to Brussels together with representatives of the Serbian Electric Power Industry and the Oil Industry of Serbia. He will meet with representatives of the European Commission, the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe and EU energy institutions.
Minister Naumov told the Tanjug news agency that on the first day of the visit, the EU representatives endorsed the request of the Serbian delegation to use EU funds for countries that are still not candidates for EU membership.
These funds should be used for solving social problems that can come out in the field of energy and for assisting the entire sector.
Naumov announced that the Serbian Electric Power Industry, as an associate member of the European union of electricity producers and distributors "Eurelectric", will soon file a request for full membership in the union.
