At the opening of the conference “European Trends in Spa Tourism”, Labus, who is heading the celebration of the 160th anniversary of tourism at Lake Palic, pointed out that now is a good opportunity for tourist locations, above all spas, to find strategic partners and begin the privatisation process.
He said that this could help modernise spas, improving the quality of services and emphasised that it is necessary to invest in tourism so that it could keep pace with other east European countries.
The Serbian Deputy Prime Minister underlined that Lake Palic is a pearl of the Pannonian Plane, adding that owing to its tradition and favourable position it could become one of the most interesting and elite destinations in this part of Europe.
Infrastructure remains a precondition for further development of Lake Palic, Labus said noting that it is important to enter the privatisation process and to present Serbian tourist offers to potential European visitors.
He announced that the government would offer all necessary assistance for the development of that part of Vojvodina in the forthcoming period.
Spa tourism experts from Italy, Hungary, Slovenia and university professors from Serbia-Montenegro will hold lectures today and tomorrow at the conference at Lake Palic.
