During his visit to Nis, where he met Mayor Smiljko Kostic, Nisava district head Milan Lapcevic and local self-government officials, Ilic supported the initiative of including this town among the Serbian government’s project for accelerated development of Kragujevac, Bor and Vranje, which stimulates development of small and medium enterprises and the creation of new jobs through favourable loans.
The Minister announced that 100 million dinars would be set aside from the state budget for the first phase of infrastructure construction at new locations in Nis, which will be offered to local and foreign investors.
According to him, necessary documentation will be prepared for an international tender for construction concessions of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad highway, while the modernisation of Corridor 10’s railway is being successfully carried out, and talks on the electrification of that central railway line are underway.
Ilic said that projects are also being prepared for transferring and constructing a railway junction in Nis, and moving the railway tracks from the town centre. He announced that 350 million dinars would be used for the continuation of work on the highway towards Vranje.
The Minister assessed that the highway construction projects should also be used for gasification and development of telecommunications.
