Labus stressed that Serbia has great potentials in the development of mountain, spa, and country tourism but that it needs to do more to improve hotels and accommodation capacities. He recalled that the government has made a decision to speed up the privatisation of hotels so as to ensure international standards in this sector.
Frangialli said that Serbia has a rich tourist offer and he stressed the importance of promoting sports tourism given that Belgrade will host significant sporting events in the upcoming period. He also stressed the importance of the development of small and family hotels, which he said had driven tourism development in other countries.
The meeting between Labus and Frangialli was also attended by Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism, and Services Bojan Dimitrijevic.
Belgrade is hosting a two-day conference of the WTO, gathering representatives of 25 countries, tourist organisations, and the UN’s and the EU’s agencies.
