Predrag Bubalo
Opening a two-day conference themed “Slovakia and Serbia-Montenegro – Exchange of Experience on Road to Europe,” Bubalo stressed that there is a general consensus in Serbia on the need to continue EU integration as well as the readiness to accept and adjust to EU standards.
Bubalo recalled that the strategy is a crucial document on Serbia’s road to EU accession and he stressed that the Serbian government’s main goals are the modernisation of the economy, improvement of living standards, stability in the country and institutions, as well as Serbia-Montenegro’s integration in the EU with the aim to achieve the shared European values of peace, security, freedom, prosperity, and democracy.
Bubalo said that Slovakia’s experience could be instructive on Serbia’s path of fast accession to the EU, adding that Slovakia managed to be admitted to the EU faster than other countries.
Taking part in the two-day conference are representatives of the European Commission delegation to Serbia-Montenegro, Southeast Europe Stability Pact, the Slovakian Embassy and other embassies.
The conference, which aims to present Slovakia’s experience in negotiations with the EU, has been organised by the European Movement in Serbia and the Research Centre of the Slovakian Association for Foreign Policy from Bratislava.
