Van Gennip said she was pleased with how quickly the government reacted after the film about Srebrenica crimes was broadcast, and added that the Netherlands sees Serbia- Montenegro as a state of crucial importance in the Balkans upon which the stability of the entire region depends.
Speaking about the results of the referendum on the European constitution in the Netherlands, the Dutch Minister stressed that the EU accession criteria will not be changed regardless of the voting results, and that it is very important for Serbia to secure continuity in economic and political reforms if it is to join the EU.
Labus pointed out that Serbia is accelerating the preparations for direct negotiations on the stabilisation and association agreement, which is very significant for further strengthening of the economic and institutional systems in the country. It will ensure the country’s long-term stability and development, Labus concluded.
