Zoran Stojkovic
Residents of Nis, Valjevo, Kragujevac and Belgrade mostly complained about lengthy court trials that sometimes can drag on for ten years.
Stojkovic assessed the situation in the Serbian judiciary as better after the appointment of new court presidents, especially when it pertains to efficiency and quality of work.
The Minister of Justice said to reporters that, while the judiciary has not yet achieved a high level of satisfaction, there are visible changes for the better.
He announced the dismissal of judges who do not act in good conscience as well as criminal charges for those who break the law.
Minister Stojkovic underlined that the Ministry of Justice will persist in the improvement of the efficiency and quality of the courts. He reminded that this country signed the Convention on the Protection of Human and Civil Rights, obligating it to helping its citizens fulfil their rights in a timely manner.
Stojkovic repeated that citizens will still be able to ask questions by telephone regarding the work of judicial bodies, every last Saturday of the month as part of the “Open Telephones” action organised by the Serbian Ministry of Justice.
