Dinkic stressed that all countries of Southeastern Europe have signed free trade agreements and that investment in Serbia-Montenegro will provide investors a duty free market with around 55 million citizens.
Special Coordinator of the Stability Pact for Southeastern Europe Erhard Busek said that investment in the region of Southeastern Europe offers investors an opportunity to develop their business, while at the same time offering an opportunity for development of the entire region.
Busek said that fresh investment may also contribute to resolution of the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, which he described as the least stable area in the region.
According to Busek, the whole region needs investment as it is facing unemployment. He noted that setting up a joint market in the region is of utmost importance and added that the signed free trade agreements need to be implemented consistently.
EU Monetary Affairs Commissioner Joaquin Almunia said that the process of integrating Southeastern European countries in the EU will stimulate consolidation and democratisation of institutions in those countries and improvement of human rights protection.
Almunia stressed that the process of harmonising standards of accession candidate countries with those of the EU is very complex. He noted that the development of the region is mostly influenced by economic and political stability.
