Serbian Minister of Justice Zoran Stojkovic and head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia-Montenegro Maurizio Massari talked today about regional cooperation of countries of southeastern Europe in the fight against corruption, successful cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and the OSCE Mission in the harmonisation of domestic legislation with European standards, and OSCE's assistance in the education of judiciary workers and the securing of conditions for increased efficiency of work of judiciary bodies.
During the talks, Stojkovic said that the Serbian government is expected to adopt the national anti-corruption strategy at one of the upcoming sessions. He added that the preparation of an action plan for strategy's implementation is drawing to an end, and that the working group is already drafting a law on an independent body that would monitor the plan's implementation.
Massari voiced satisfaction with the successful cooperation between the OSCE Mission and the Ministry of Justice and offered professional and material assistance in the application of new regulations, education of judges and improvement of material conditions. That should boost work efficiency, speed up court proceedings and reduce corruption in the judiciary.
