EAR continues project of primary health care in Serbia

Serbian Deputy Minister of Health Nevena Karanovic said today that the European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR) decided to extend the project of development of primary health care in Serbia to the end of this year.
Opening the international conference ‘Promotion of Health in Serbia’, Karanovic stressed that EAR will continue to support the campaign "You are my Heart", which deals with the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and which will be launched in Belgrade and other cities in Serbia.
She stressed that the campaign and the project of development of primary health care are in line with efforts of the Serbian Ministry of Health to raise citizens' awareness of healthy lifestyles since data show that people in Serbia mostly suffer from cardiovascular, malign, cerebral and vascular diseases.
Director of the European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR) Mathias Reinke said that health care promotion in Serbia is among EAR’s priorities, noting that EAR supported the work of the public health school early this year.
He stressed that a national strategy for tobacco control launched by the Ministry of Health is of great importance.
