Serbian government to send official invitation to Kosumi on Tuesday

Head of the Serbian government’s Office of Media Relations Srdjan Djuric said today that the Serbian government fully understands that Kosovo Prime Minister Bajram Kosumi will not be in the province on May 24, which is why it suggests May 25 for the meeting in Prizren.

In a statement for RTS, Djuric said that the government will send a formal invitation on Tuesday for the meeting to take place in Prizren on May 25. He expressed belief that since both sides expressed readiness for dialogue, there will be a meeting.

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today in Zajecar that the government is open for discussion on all issues and accumulated problems in Kosovo-Metohija, noting that he anticipates the onset of the dialogue with the province’s prime minister.

There is no issue that the Serbian government is not ready to discuss, Kostunica underlined adding that the talks will include technical and political issues as well.

The Serbian Prime Minister stressed that in next several days, preparations will be completed on the terms of which Kosumi will be given an official invitation for talks. He also said that he sees the meeting as certain since confirmation came from the other side.

Noting that political dialogue is important, Kostunica said that it is important to face reality and an objective assessment of matters when it comes to standards, human rights and minorities in the province.

According to Kostunica, Prizren was chosen as the city to hold talks in because it depicts all the problems that exist in the province on a local level.
