Milosavljevic told a press conference in Valjevo that the hospitals in Valjevo, Kraljevo, Zrenjanin, and Vranje had been chosen for a pilot-project of health system restructuring in Serbia’s regional centres and that a $5 million project of the construction and equipping of a new ward will be completed in Valjevo by the end of 2005.
Over the past five years, the EU has invested around €90 million in Serbia’s health sector, said Milosavljevic and noted that the funds came in the form of very favourable loans, whose use is being monitored by experts from the European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR) and the World Bank.
