Opening the 49th International Technology Fair in Belgrade, Bubalo said that due to a lack of investment into technological development over the past decade, Serbia’s machines, except in a few cases, are several decades old, especially those in information systems, automatic remote control systems, and robotics.
According to him, it is vital for Serbia to know the direction in which to move in order to improve the work process, although capacities for the implementation of state-of-the-art technology are limited.
After the opening ceremony, Bubalo visited the booths of the Czech Republic, Bavaria, the German regions of North Rhine–Westphalia, and South Africa as well as those of Subotica-based electric machinery producer Sever and U.S. Steel Serbia from Smederevo.
The fair closes on Friday, May 13. During the exhibition, some 1,100 firms from 42 countries will display their products throughout a total of 24,000 square metres of exhibition space.
