Accompanied by Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar and Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo, Ilic presented the local authorities of Secanj with the Serbian government’s Conclusion adopted after having considered the situation in the flood stricken areas. According to the Conclusion, the government guarantees that all damage caused by floods will be repaired.
After the meeting, Ilic said that the water level in the village of Jasa Tomic has fallen by 32 centimetres, while the level of water in the villages of Medja and Krajisnik went down by 24 centimetres and 21 centimetres respectively.
According to Ilic, the situation is stable and under control. He noted that civil protection representatives, army members and gendarmerie have been and will continue to be in the field at all times.
Ilic denied allegations by certain media that the government did not work during the holidays, thus neglecting the people from flood stricken areas. He stressed that government representatives and members of the crisis response team are on the spot all the time in order to meet all needs of the local population.
He announced that a meeting with Serbia’s 100 largest companies will take place on Tuesday, May 10, in order to secure donations for reparations in the villages of Jasa Tomic and Medja. Ilic also said that the first construction materials will arrive on Wednesday so that destroyed houses can start to be rebuilt.
Also, Ilic said that after the water recedes, total damage caused by floods will be estimated and noted that tenders for repairing the damaged areas will be called immediately after that.

He recalled that 156.5 million dinars has been secured to help the flood stricken municipalities and stressed that the government has maintained daily contact with local authorities.
According to Ilic, it is inadmissible to politicise the flood situation as certain parties have tried. “We have to be serious and to see what we can do for those people who are in need, as we promised”, Ilic said.
Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar pointed out that the damage done by the flood needs to be repaired as soon as possible, in the manner envisioned by the Constitution and laws.
The Serbian government has adopted the only possible legal decision by adopting this Conclusion. Under the Conclusion, all damages caused by floods in central Banat will be repaired.
Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo said that the people in the flooded areas have suffered material damage and may be certain that they will receive compensation for the entire amount of damage, as the government promised so in the Conclusion that was adopted at its last session.
Bubalo once again stressed that the government’s Conclusion will be fully carried out.
