Dulic-Markovic and her associates from the ministry, Director of the Water Directorate Nikola Marjanovic and representatives of the Ministry of Health attended the session of the crisis response committee in Leskovac, following the floods in the South Morava basin.
At the meeting with Minister Dulic-Markovic, Leskovac Mayor Gojko Velickovic said that wheat, maize and potato fields spanning 25,000 hectares in Leskovac, Vucje and Grdelica, have been destroyed. He noted that the water flooded between 2,500 to 3,000 homes.
Director of water company Srbijavode Veljko Dimitrijevic said that larger damages were avoided thanks to Barje dyke.
The water pulled out today from most homes and the water level is on the decrease. The fields in Leskovac, Grdelica and Vucje as well as Bobisje suburb in Leskovac are still flooded.
