Serbian Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar announced today that the Serbian government will initiate the change of legal regulations in order to enable a different response of competent state bodies in the event of a natural disaster.

Loncar told the Tanjug news agency that although the government was not able to declare the state of natural disaster due to the absence of legal grounds, it will provide all necessary assistance to people in central Banat.
He recalled that on May 5 the government decided to set aside funds from the state budget to repair all flood-stricken municipalities and build facilities that have been destroyed, in line with the Law on use of funds for sanation and protection from natural disasters. That is why the citizens should not succumb to media manipulation, Loncar stressed.
