Minister of Agriculture and Environment Snezana Bogosavljevic-Boskovic pointed out that just green economy should have a key role in the development of the world.
She said that in the past period in the field of the environment a lot of work has been done.
One of the biggest challenges for Serbia is the opening of Chapter 27, the Minister of Agriculture and Environment said, noting that investing in the environment is an investment in the future.
Any investment in environmental protection will become economically feasible, which includes investment in recycling, renewable energy, waste management and utilities, Bogosavljevic-Boskovic said.
A number of activities and events is organised to mark the World Environment Day.
World Environment Day was first celebrated in 1972 and is the main tool by which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness raising on the importance of environmental protection, according to a statement by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection.
