Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović noted today that the Energy Development Strategy until 2040 recognises hydrogen as an energy source that will play an important role in the country’s long-term energy future.
Opening the international conference “Green Hydrogen – A Guidepost for Energy Transition”, Đedović Handanović announced that in the coming period, the focus will be on developing a regulatory framework that will enable the development of the hydrogen market.
According to her, Serbia seeks to be part of the European hydrogen transition through the development of regulations, pilot projects and strengthening domestic capacities in this area.
We particularly see the potential for its application in industry and transport, said Đedović Handanović, stating that work is also under way on the development of pilot projects that should enable the acquisition of practical experience and the development of domestic capacities.
In this regard, she underlined that the project which is implemented with the German KfW Development Bank, as well as the project for a demonstration facility for the production and storage of hydrogen at the Vinča Institute, which is being implemented with the support of the EU, are particularly important.
