Kosovo unreasonably blocks Serbian trucks

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic said that a solution for trucks blocked at the Merdare administrative crossing towards Kosovo-Metohija should be found this week with EU mediation.

The Serbian government has no interest to embark on an economic war with Kosovo, but an introduction of reciprocal measures in response to the six-day blockade, Ljajic told Tanjug.
This is a violation of the CEFTA agreement by Kosovo because of its self-issued certificates, although it is not a member of the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods since it is a condition for the membership in the UN.
In addition, Kosovo did not announce to a member of CEFTA the possibility of introducing the measures, nor sought to resolve this issue through bilateral talks, said the Deputy Prime Minister.
