Smederevo to become centre for processing, export of fish

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic handed over to PTC Germany representatives the keys of a new production plant built by the city of Smederevo that will export fish to countries around the world.
Serbia will export quality fish, Vucic said, urging the investors to open a fish farm as soon as possible and hire as many workers as possible, adding that the government will help as much as it can.
I am sure that you have made the right decision in deciding to raise fish here in Serbia, Vucic said, adding that the fact that 300 families will have a safe future and much better living standards is good news.
The factory in Smederevo is in the process of obtaining the necessary permits for the production and export, and in April this year it should start working at full capacity.
100 workers will be employed this year, of which 80% are women, while the plant will have a total of 300 employees when it reaches peak production. The capacity of fish processing is 30,000 tonnes per year, which will be achieved in three years.
The Memorandum of Understanding between the German company, the government of Serbia and the city of Smederevo was signed in early October last year.
