Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection Snezana Bogosavljevic-Boskovic and Head of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Sergey Alexeevich Dankvert signed today the Protocol on adherence to phytosanitary requirements in food export to Russia.
Bogosavljevic-Boskovic stated that this protocol is necessary since the export of agricultural and food products from Serbia to the Russian market records growth year in, year out.
She explained that it is now important to meet all phytosanitary requirements, in order to protect the territories of both Russia and Serbia.
The Minister added that this protocol provides a legal basis for the further strengthening of trade, economic cooperation and investments in the agro-industrial complex of Serbia.
Dankvert explained that the protocol is related to the traceability of goods and that it determines exact procedures and the manner in which the goods originating from Serbia will be inspected.
He recalled that the Russian Federation imposed sanctions on imports of certain goods from the European Union.
We have now established between our two departments the mechanisms to ensure that the goods not originating from Serbia cannot enter the Russian market, Dankvert concluded.
