Vujovic, who is attending in Washington the spring session of the World Bank and IMF, told Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) that the IMF has admitted it made a mistake in its projection of Serbia’s deficit.
This four-year period is ending very successfully, and our country is preparing a very good line of projects that will be implemented within the next four-year programme, which begins on 1 July, the Minister said.
With the officials of these financial institutions, it was agreed that these projects should support structural reforms, which are the most important part of the reforms in Serbia.
Commenting on the forecasts of the IMF that Serbia could end this year with recession, Vujovic said that it is crucial that all is well on the macro-monetary and macro-fiscal levels.
The IMF continues to warn of danger, but is ready to make a revision of the projections of economic growth, which will still be a little above zero, Vujovic explained.
The Minister said that it is expected to see the results of operations of Zelezara Smederevo steelworks with the new management, and of the chemical complex, RTB Bor and other big producers, but also how the privatisation of many companies will end.
In addition to Vujovic, the Serbian delegation at the spring meetings of the World Bank and IMF in Washington is also led by Governor of the National Bank of Serbia Jorgovanka Tabakovic.
