During his visit to Smederevo, where Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic, Executive Director of Zelezara Smederevo Bojan Bojkovic and representative of
HPK Engineering Peter Kamaras signed the contract on the provision of services of management and counselling for the operation of Zelezara Smederevo, Vucic thanked first of all to workers who managed to secure a future for Zelezara Smederevo with their perseverance, love and dedication to their factory.
The Prime Minister said that the company will be profitable, wages will be increased and jobs for employees will be safe, and the number of workers will never go below 5,120.
He announced that the production from last year's 560,000 tonnes will be doubled this year and asked the employees to be hardworking, dedicated and to brighten the face of the entire Serbia.
The Prime Minister said that the whole region of Smederevo will continue to develop, and reiterated that this opportunity should not be missed.
Vucic underlined that he wants Zelezara Smederevo to achieve success like Air Serbia, which, according to the results, is ahead of all other airlines in the region.
I want that tomorrow we can show that we have a most successful company in the region, a steel mill that can procure raw materials at the lowest price and sell its steel at a good price, the Prime Minister stated.
Co-owner of company HKP Engineering John Goodish said that he expects that the steel plant will be successful, recalling that he came to Smederevo for the first time 13 years ago, and that even back then he had a vision of what its workers have the capacity for.
I am back after 13 years and again I have a vision of what we are capable of doing. We will not spend a lot of time talking about what we will do, but we will just do it. We have a good factory, good people and we will be successful, he declared.
During his visit to Zelezara Smederevo, Vucic also met with representatives of the trade union and of the factory’s management, he spoke with workers and toured the production plants.
