Bogosavljevic-Boskovic said that increasing competitiveness of food industry is a priority objective for Serbia on its road to European integration.
The Minister spoke about the important role that the agricultural sector and the food industry play in Serbia’s economy.
She pointed to the challenges and problems currently facing that economy branch, as well as to resources in that area that should be utilized the right way, taking care of small agricultural producers.
The Serbian and IMF delegations discussed the potentials of Serbia’s agribusiness food sector, the need for foreign direct investments in the sector, and problems in the field of environmental protection, the Serbian Agriculture Ministry said in a release on Wednesday.
The IMF delegation stressed the need of investing in the field of environmental protection so Serbia could reach European standards in that area soon.
Providing sustainable funding to environmental protection and major infrastructure projects is a key priority that the line ministry and the government are paying the greatest attention to at the moment.
