Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic met today with US Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby, who offered the Serbian government continued support and cooperation in the clean-up of consequences of the May floods and the implementation of economic reforms.
Sertic thanked Ambassador Kirby and underlined that the Serbian government makes decisive and significant steps towards recovery of the Serbian economy, adding that investors have already recognised this and have shown great interest in the privatisation of Serbian companies.
He added that the Ministry of Economy is focused primarily on development projects and putting order into public companies, as a condition for creating a better business climate and achieving GDP growth.
Kirby expressed interest in the reforms that are being implemented in public companies and tax policy, and pointed out that along with improving economic environment, it is necessary to create a more efficient judiciary system.
He pointed out that experts of the World Bank and USAID have helped in the recovery of the Serbian economy and that they intend to promote this cooperation, reads a statement by the Ministry of Economy.
