Sertic said that Johnson Electric is a global factory of engine motors with headquarters in Hong Kong, adding that the value of investments is €20 million.
The local government enabled the acquisition of all necessary permits for construction and operation, and construction land was ceded, while the Serbian government gave subsidies for each new job.
The Minister said that the implementation of this project is an example of efficiency, noting that the city of Nis demonstrated how to welcome investors.
According to Sertic, Johnson Electric will employ 1,050 workers by the end of 2016, mostly highly qualified experts in the field of electronics.
Nis Mayor Zoran Perisic said that this is the largest investment in Serbia in the last 15 years, with a total value of €20 million, and announced the inclusion of domestic partners in the operation of this facility.
A memorandum of understanding between the government of the Republic of Serbia, the city of Nis and Johnson Electric was signed on 27 June 2013, and the document implies the company's investment of €15 million in a new plant and hiring 1,000 workers over the next three years.
The Serbian government has provided an incentive of € 9,000 for each new job created, while the city of Nis provided the necessary infrastructure land spanning 3.8 hectares.
Johnson Electric is a world leader in the field of starters, including all sub-systems – motors, solenoids, switches and connectors.
Their products are used in a wide range of industries, and the company employs more than 38,000 employees in 23 countries, including 4,000 in Europe.
