Minister of Regional Development and Local Self-Government and Acting Minister of Economy Igor Mirovic and CEO of KWS in Serbia Suad Kumbaric laid today in Becej a cornerstone to a new centre for seed processing, in which over €40 million will be invested.
Mirovic said that the new factory will employ more than 200 workers, adding that new employment is crucial for Serbia in the future.
Mirovic confirmed that the Ministry of Regional Development and Local Self-Government will continue to support the construction and development of a business district in Becej.
Kumbaric praised the openness of the municipal government in Becej and announced the opening of the plant in August or September this year.
The centre for seed in Becej is the first greenfield investment of KWS, which sees Vojvodina as a great place for seed production.
It will contribute to the improvement of the trade balance of Serbia, due to the fact that 70% to 80% of the production will be exported to the countries of the region, the former Soviet Union and Western Europe.
