Paunovic said that the Office since its formation has launched a number of activities aimed at the promotion of human and minority rights, as well as activities aimed at the implementation of anti-discrimination policies in Serbian society.
According to her, the Office has established a good cooperation with ministries and independent regulatory bodies in Serbia, as well as with many international organisations, primarily the Office of the UN, Council of Europe and the EU Delegation to Serbia.
Pillay underlined that Serbia has recorded significant progress in the realisation of human rights, but added that it is necessary to work on improving the position of persons with disabilities and members of the Roma population, as well as to make further efforts to combat discrimination against the LGBT community.
The High Commissioner for Human Rights has offered help in the further improvement of work of the Serbian Office for Human and Minority Rights.
