First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic today met with Russian Minister for Emergency Situations Sergei Shoigu, who is also co-president of the Russian-Serbian Intergovernmental Committee for Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation.
During the talk Dacic underlined the significance of Russian President Dmitri Medvedev’s visit to Serbia, noting that it is a historic visit, not only because it will take place on the 65th anniversary of the victory over fascism, but also because it is the first visit by a Russian President to Serbia.
Minister Shoigu said it is very important for relations between Serbia and Russia that all major projects agreed upon at the last session of the Russian-Serbian Intergovernmental Committee have been finalised, namely the sale of the oil industry Naftna Industrija Srbije, realisation of all legal actions necessary for forming the joint companies South Stream and Banatski Dvor, as well as works to extend the capacity and modernise the gas storage facility in Banatski Dvor.
Shoigu also stressed that considerable progress has been made in the relations between their two countries since Minister Dacic and himself took over leadership of the Committee.
