Speaking at a press conference, Petkovic said that this is a big fair and the fairgrounds will cover an area of 15,000 square metres, even though a similar fair is being held in Budapest at the same time.
He said that Libya and Syria will participate in the fair for the first time and an agreement will be signed with the Syrian Minister for Tourism prior to the opening of the fair.
Petkovic said that 100 tourist destinations in Serbia will be presented at the fair, presentations will be accompanied by various interactive events, and two roundtable discussions will also be held.
He said that the first roundtable discussion will be about cooperation between local tourism organisations concerning the promotion of the Danube while the second one will be about rural tourism.
He said that the focus will be on a different theme each day, the Danube River tourism, rural tourism, mountain tourism in Serbia and various events.
Apart from domestic destinations, tourist organisations will also offer holidays abroad with the usual fair discount of 10%, he said adding that this year’s host country is Tunisia and partner region Istria.
Director of the Tourist Organisation of Serbia Gordana Plamenac announced that new publications will be presented at the fair, such as 52 Weekends in Serbia, Serbia for the Young, The Serbian Countryside, Wine Roads and Active holiday in Serbia.
Plamenac noted that the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Republika Srpska Ministry of Trade and Tourism will present a regional cooperation programme themed “European Step”, while the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce will promote a tourist programme, "The Danube – 10,000 Years of Civilization" and the Ministry of Culture will organise lectures on Serbia’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
Director of the Belgrade Fairgrounds Andjelko Trpkovic announced that together with the Kovacica Tourist Organisation a humanitarian campaign will be held to collect donations for the children’s hospital in Tirsova Street.
The most successful exhibitors will be awarded while Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic will open the fair on February 26.
The fair is open from 10 am until 6 pm and the entrance fee is RSD 300.
