Speaking at a press conference held at Tanjug's International Press Centre, Dimitrijevic said that a project of implementation of satellite accounts will be completed this year, which will enable tracking indirect profits from tourism and increase the total income 1.5 times over.
He voiced hope that a new law on tourism will be adopted this year, which envisages setting up a state agency for development of tourism, which should play the crucial role in development of the several most significant tourist destinations.
For 2007, completion of privatisation of most important hotels is planned, as well as continuation of Serbia's promotional campaign on CNN. A new visual identity and tourist brand of Serbia will be established soon, for which the Serbian Tourist Organisation will call a tender.
The Minister said that last year Serbia pulled in $400 million from tourism, which is a 30% increase, adding that it is very important that a surplus of $70 million was achieved at the end of the year.
Dimitrijevic said that at the international tourism fair in Madrid, an agreement was achieved to send concrete materials on investment possibilities in Serbia to partners from Spain.
