Minister of Religion Milan Radulovic said after the voting that all citizens of Serbia, every religious community, and all social organisations, will get more rights with the new Constitution.
He said that the new Constitution guarantees freedom to all citizens and respect from the state, adding that everyone will have bigger chances for progress.
On the other hand, the Constitution restricts the authorities and obliges them to work for general welfare. In addition, this Constitution offers much more to ethnic Albanians in Kosovo-Metohija who are not satisfied with their life in Serbia, giving them more than they have ever had, especially now when they are under the rule of the international administration.
Minister of Trade, Tourism and Services Bojan Dimitrijevic said that the new Constitution should round off Serbia’s statehood, improve our negotiating position in the talks on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija, and break up with the previous system.
After casting his ballot, Dimitrijevic said that with the completion of legal and economic reforms, Serbia should enter a more peaceful period of transition.
He added that the new Constitution will create a better environment in the legal-institutional system, which will result in a better and more peaceful life of citizens and a better organised society.
Minister of Culture Dragan Kojadinovic said that the confirmation of the new Constitution is the best way for Serbia to make a big step forward towards Europe, to keep Kosovo-Metohija and to unite over a common goal.
Serious political parties have united in order to build foundations of a new, more modern and beautiful Serbia, Kojadinovic said and added that he is not worried because of yesterday’s turnout and that he believes that the Constitution will be accepted.
I came here to say “yes” for the new Constitution first of all because of this country’s future, of the future of my and your children, the Minister of Culture said and added that this referendum is the best way to show where Serbia should be heading to in the future.
Minister of Education and Sport Slobodan Vuksanovic voiced hope that the referendum will be successful because the adoption of the supreme legal act of a state guarantees that citizens will live better.
Vuksanovic said after the voting that he is sure that no one of Serbia’s citizens would like to go back to the time of insecurity and fear from the 1990s.
He recalled that citizens agree on all important issues at the last moment and that that will be the case with the referendum as well. The confirmation of the Constitution is the interest of every individual and his family, company and the state as a whole.
