Speaking at a press conference at the Serbian government held on the occasion of the revision of a three-year precautionary arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Vucic said that this is an important increase and that the government did everything to give the highest possible raise.
He said that salaries of university professors will be increased by 2% and that it is a permanent increase.
Also, salaries in the health care institutions and social care institutions will be increased by 3%, while salaries of military and the police will be increased by 2% as of January 2016.
He explained that the IMF believed that the salaries for military and the police should not be increased and that is why at one point negotiations were in crisis, but the arguments of the Serbian government were correct.
He announced that salaries of all those in the public sector whose monthly wages were below RSD 25,000 will be increased.
Vucic said that pensions will have a linear increase of 1.25% and considering that Serbia has a total of 1,736,154 pensioners, of whom 60% did not have a reduction in pensions, with this increase they will have even higher pensions in real terms too due to zero inflation.
Our decision is to make a linear increase of pensions of 1.25% for all pensioners, both for those with low and for those with higher pensions, Vucic underlined and added that the IMF demanded that the increase in pensions be lower since this increase represents a greater burden on the budget than salaries.
The Prime Minister said that the subscription for Radio Television Serbia and Radio Television Vojvodina will not exceed RSD 150.
Explaining the decision of the government to increase salaries and pensions, and bearing in mind that this increase will bring at least a bit of a better life to citizens, he said that the government wanted to contribute to that with this decision on subscription.
In order to enable that, the state will pay RSD 4 billion from the state budget for the work of these two broadcasters, Vucic underlined.
