At a press conference, Milivojevic said that the Serbian government and state union ministries would be included in cooperation projects between the two countries in the area of European integrations depending on their competencies. She specified that a total of 19 projects have been planned, relating to the areas of culture, media, security and the visa regime.
Milivojevic assessed that entry into the EU is an issue which should concern our society as a whole, who will in turn need to invest efforts in fulfilling standards necessary for EU accession, which is why it is important to achieve a national consensus on this issue. According to her, experiences of countries in the region are of special interest for our country, as we have similar challenges.
Udvardi expressed hope that the implementation of this agreement would enable the creation of an institutional framework in Serbia-Montenegro for transferring experiences gained by Hungary in the process of EU accession.
He said that the process of EU enlargement cannot be considered complete until all West Balkan countries become EU members, and underlined that new borders must not be created within Europe, and that Hungary wishes to help all countries that are in the process of EU accession.
Milivojevic and Udvardi agreed that the Memorandum on Cooperation would be in force until Serbia-Montenegro becomes an EU member, and explained that expenses incurred in these projects, some of which are already underway, would be met by Hungary.
