Representatives of Pirot, Kragujevac and Sjenica municipalities agreed at today’s promotion of Local Action Plans for Children that in the next five years, with the realisation of these plans, poverty would be reduced and better conditions created for raising children.
Serbian Minister of Health and President of the Children’s Rights Council Tomica Milosavljevic explained that the experiences of these three towns would provide a good foundation for future plans of other municipalities and towns, as well as in the work of ministries.
Local Action Plans for Children in Sjenica, Pirot and Kragujevac are a part of the Poverty Reduction Strategy in Serbia-Montenegro financed by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in cooperation with UNICEF, and supported with 1.2 million Canadian dollars. Today’s promotion was attended by Canadian Ambassador to Belgrade Donald McLennan and UNICEF Director for Serbia-Montenegro Ann-Lis Svensson.
