Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus and Jiri Dienstbier, who once held the position of United Nations' Special Rapporteur for human rights in the former Yugoslavia as well as Czechoslovakian Foreign Minister, talked today about economic and political cooperation of the Czech Republic and Serbia and the process of European integrations.
They agreed that relations between the two countries are good and indicated the need to improve economic ties, and to establish a high degree of communication between Czech and Serbian businesspeople.
Dienstbier pointed out that the Czech Republic had chosen Serbia as one of the eight countries for an aid development program, and underlined that his country would offer full support to Serbia in the process of accession to the EU and the World Trade Organisation.
The Serbian Deputy Prime Minister said that this country had made important progress in cooperation with The Hague Tribunal and that by the end of March it expects a positive assessment of the Feasibility Study and the beginning of negotiations on Stabilisation and Association.
Regarding the World Trade Organisation, Labus explained the importance of an accelerated approach to this international institution under the two-track principle and said that this would be a strong signal to all investors that the Serbian economic system fully meets the standards of developed market economies.
