The Office of Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica stated that none of the ministers from the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and the New Serbia (NS) at the government session voted on the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) that Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic signed in Luxemburg.
This agreement is illegal and contrary to Serbia’s state and national interests, according to the statement. The Prime Minister and ministers from the DSS and NS were against putting the SAA on the agenda. They left the session while voting on the SAA was taking place and thus gave no legitimacy to the agreement which directly violates the country's interests.
Under the government’s Rules of Procedures, the session was taken over by Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic in line with authorisations by the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica chaired the session during voting on the energy agreement with Russia, which was unanimously adopted, the statement adds.
