Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with Minister of Education Professor Dejan Vuk Stanković, PhD, to discuss the directions for the further development and modernisation of primary education in Serbia.
Macut and Stanković highlighted the importance of improving the quality of teaching, modernising the educational process and strengthening students’ functional knowledge, in line with the needs of contemporary society.
The meeting addressed curriculum reform aimed at reorganising teaching methods, encouraging learning and developing cognitive abilities, in order to further direct the educational process not only towards acquiring information and reproducing known content, but also towards developing critical thinking and understanding, curiosity, and the individual potential and talent of every student.
The interlocutors pointed to the importance of creating an education system tailored to children’s needs and the challenges of the modern age, while further strengthening the role of schools and teachers in the educational process.
The meeting also covered activities related to the final examination and the further improvement of conditions for acquiring quality and accessible education for all students in Serbia.
