Serbia and Russia
signed the Agreement on energy cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and Russian Federation in Moscow on January 25.
Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the Agreement on cooperation for the construction of the gas pipe line to transport natural gas across the territory of Serbia is a logical continuation of the Agreement that was signed in Moscow on January 25.
He stressed that this agreement provides energy security for Serbia and Europe and will also be economically beneficial for citizens.
Medvedev added that he discussed today with Serbian ministers and
Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica future investments, economic cooperation and social and cultural cooperation.
He noted that Serbia at this difficult moment needs not only moral and legal support but also support based on concrete bilateral agreements that will contribute to the better social and economic position of all people in Serbia.
Kostunica stressed that the Agreement between Russian Gazprom and Srbijagas shows that cooperation between Serbia and Russia is manifold.
He noted that today’s agreement marks the continuation of the cooperation that was launched a month ago in Moscow.
The signing of the agreement was attended by Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Popovic, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic, Minister of Trade and Services Predrag Bubalo, Minister of Infrastructure Velimir Ilic and president of the economic team for Kosovo-Metohija and the south of Serbia Nenad Popovic.
Attending the signing of the agreement on behalf of Russia were Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov and Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Alekseyev.
