At a joint press conference with his Portuguese counterpart Luis Amado held after the meeting, Jeremic warned that imposing independence of Kosovo outside the UN Security Council is a guarantee for destabilisation of western Balkans.
Recalling that Serbia's position on Kosovo is contrary to that of the US, he said that Serbia wants to cooperate with the US in order to find a solution that would guarantee peace in the region.
Jeremic said that Serbia's position should not be surprising because no country in the world would give up its territorial integrity.
With his visit to Portugal, which chairs the European Union, the Serbian Foreign Minister closed his four-day European tour, during which he also visited Madrid, Vienna and Ljubljana.
