New opportunities for strengthening economic cooperation with Japan

Belgrade, 18 June 2026

Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Professor Dragan Glamočić, PhD, today spoke with Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Naohiro Tsutsumi and Commissioner of the International Horticultural Exhibition “Green Expo 2027” Jun Shimmi about further strengthening bilateral relations in the field of agriculture.

Glamočić said that, in addition to strengthening trade, an important segment of the partnership between the two countries is also in the field of innovation, digitalisation and adaptation of agriculture to climate change.

The potential for a greater presence of Serbian agricultural and food products on the Japanese market was particularly highlighted.

The interlocutors also discussed Serbia's participation in the International Horticultural Exhibition "Green Expo 2027", which will be held in Yokohama.

The Minister emphasised that Serbia is approaching preparations for the exhibition with a clear intention to present potential in agriculture, the food industry, innovations and rural development, as well as to further strengthen economic and institutional ties with Japan and other partner countries.
