At the “Transport Investment Summit 2026”, which was held in Thessaloniki and organised by the Transport Community, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Sofronijević stated that the countries of the region should be partners who, through cooperation, can reach the best solutions and achieve common progress.
In Thessaloniki, the Minister also held meetings with Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of Greece Christos Stavrou Dimas and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport of North Macedonia Aleksandar Nikoloski, with whom she discussed concrete steps to improve the connectivity of the region and remove administrative barriers that burden transport and the economy.
Sofronijević stated that in the meeting with her Greek colleague, special attention was paid to the implementation of the EES system, which has been in force since April and significantly limits the flow of passengers and goods, noting that discussions are continuing on finding solutions that will facilitate the functioning of transport and the economy.
Sofronijević emphasised that the talks with representatives of North Macedonia confirmed the excellent cooperation between the two countries, with no open issues in the field of transport and infrastructure, adding that the cooperation will continue, primarily on the construction of the railway Corridor 10.
During the Summit, meetings were also held with representatives of EBRD and EIB, at which support for infrastructure projects in Serbia and the region was discussed.
