Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić talked in Subotica today with Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman about bilateral relations, the situation in the Western Balkans, as well as other issues of common interest.
Đurić emphasised that relations with Croatia, as well as with all neighbours, are very important for Serbia, emphasising that our country is interested in their further improvement through open and substantive dialogue.
He pointed out that some open issues are serious and complex, but that, by considering common needs and interests, there is room for a constructive approach and finding mutually acceptable solutions.
The interlocutors also discussed the need to hold a new meeting of national coordinators for open issues.
Speaking about European integration, Đurić reiterated that membership in the European Union is Serbia's strategic commitment, underlining that the earliest possible integration of the Western Balkans into the EU would represent a strong incentive for the prosperity and stability of the region, but also of Europe as a whole.
The interlocutors also discussed the issue of the position of national minorities, with Đurić stating that the common task of the two countries is to continuously work on improving the position of members of national minorities, because their rights and welfare are an important bridge of cooperation and connection between the two countries.
