Together with Rupel, Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa and Parliament Speaker France Cukjati, Jeremic will discuss Serbia’s EU integration process and the issue of Kosovo-Metohija’s future status.
In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, prior to his visit to Slovenia, Jeremic said that dialogue with Slovenia is particularly important because EU integration of the Western Balkan will be a prime concern in the course of Slovenia’s EU presidency.
After Ljubljana, Jeremic will travel to Vienna and the OSCE headquarters, where he will address ambassadors of OSCE member countries and remind them of the principles of the Helsinki Final Act which is a product of this very organisation and to which Belgrade is referring in the matter of Kosovo-Metohija’s southern province.
The Minister will also travel to Madrid and Lisbon in his efforts to garner support of Spanish and Portuguese officials regarding certain key issues for the future of Serbia and the region.
He stressed his aim will be to draw special attention of Spanish officials to the current state of affairs in the Kosovo-Metohija’s status resolution process and added his belief that Madrid could give a considerable contribution to finding a compromise solution.
Jeremic will round off his four-day tour with the visit to Portugal, the current EU presiding country.
