Serbian Minister for Diaspora Milica Cubrilo attended today the consecration ceremony of the Zociste Monastery in Kosovo-Metohija, which was damaged by Albanian extremists in 1999.

Cubrilo,
who is on a two day visit to Kosovo-Metohija, told Tanjug news agency that the consecration of this monastery is a positive impetus for the Serbian people as a whole and for life of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija in particular.
She spoke with Kosovo Serbs on ways of aid from the Diaspora not only in humanitarian aid but also through establishment of partner relations.
One of the plans is related to the development of vine growing in the area of Velika Hoca, the Minister announced.
State Secretary of the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija Dusan Prorokovic expressed satisfaction for being present at this ceremony.
The event went without any incident in the presence of over 2,000 Serbs and KFOR Commander Roland Kather.

The restoration of the monastery, which is the first reconstructed monastery out of 150 churches and monasteries destroyed in the previous period, was financed by the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija and funds raised from believers in the country and abroad.
