In a meeting of Serbia-NATO Defence Reform Group, Sutanovac pointed out that military education is important for Serbia’s future integration into large organisations such as NATO.
He recalled that some Serbian officers are already getting education abroad.
Sutanovac expressed expectation that the Presentation document, defining Serbia as member of the Partnership for Peace (PfP) programme, will be presented to NATO headquarters in Brussels soon.
This document needs to be adopted as soon as possible, Sutanovac said noting that an agreement on exchange of security intelligence with NATO should be adopted soon, Sutanovac said.
He positively described the work of Serbia-NATO Defence Reform Group in the previous period and expressed the Ministry’s resolve to continue with reforms and Euroatlantic integration.
Sutanovac said at the formation of the
4th brigade of the ground forces on June 30 was a big step in army reform.
Speaking on Kosovo-Metohija, the Minister stressed that the issue of the province’s future status is political and legal and described cooperation with KFOR in Kosovo as good.
Director of Force Planning at NATO Frank Boland said that thanks to the work of Serbia-NATO Defence Reform Group, significant results have been achieved in the Serbian defence system, noting that a lot more needs to be done in this field.
The Serbia-NATO Defence Reform Group began its work in February 2006 with the intention of accelerating and directing the process of reforming the defence system, and thus enabling Serbia’s faster accession to Euroatlantic integration.
