The statement adds that since the programme’s beginning in mid-2006, funds have been allocated to 162 out of 309 companies that applied for the programme, and the companies are to use them for marketing activities, such as introduction of a quality system, product and packaging redesign, international legal protection, product testing, participation in international fairs and similar.
Most funds were allocated for participation in international fairs (35%), introduction of a quality system (15%) and advertising material (15%).
Costs for the selected activities were refunded up to 50% of their total value and the amount allocated per company went between RSD 250,000 and RSD 2.5 million.
Domestic exporters showed great interest in the programme which is illustrated by the number of enterprises which applied for it.
The aid is to be used for marketing purposes only because for the majority of Serbian companies they occupy the bottom position on their priority lists, unlike production and sales costs; however, without a satisfactory marketing plan and other accompanying activities there can be no visible success in foreign markets.
Led by satisfactory results of this programme and the necessity to continue with financial assistance to Serbian companies, SIEPA plans a continuation of assistance programmes, adds the statement.
